Overview

90 Points, Wine Enthusiast

Dark red fruit, toasted bread and subtle maple aromas show on the nose of this bottling. There's a caramel core to the palate, where oaky elements add spice to the reddish fruits. The tannins are still quite stiff. — Matt Kettmann,

Our Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon from the 2021 vintage is a special wine for us. Designated for our Reserve Circle members, it is a tribute to the early winegrowing days of our region. Cabernet was one of the first varieties planted in the Santa Clara Valley well before the Civil War. At Sarah's, we take pride in helping to recall and reestablish the Valley's reputation for growing great Cabernet Sauvignon.

Tasting Notes

This 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon is big, bold, and fruit filled. While it’s wonderful in the glass right now, a few years of patient cellaring will enhance it even further. On the nose, the wine is round and ripe with rich red and black berry fruits – olallieberry, blackberry, and cassis, with a touch of spice. In addition, the palate expresses notes of bakers chocolate, spices, plus velvety tannins on the finish. Pair the ’21 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon with a grilled ribeye with a caramelized onion and blue cheese sauce.
